The Light-tower is situated near the western extremity of Chimatao Promontory, and the Light, which is elevated 198 feet above the level of the sea, should be visible in clear weather at a distance of 10 miles. The tower is hexagonal, of brick, painted white, with a total height from base to lantern vane of 37 feet.
This newly established Light replaces the previously existing unofficial light. Notice is also given of the establishment of Leading Marks and Spar Buoys to mark the channel across the Bar as follows:-
Leading Marks, to be known as the Lungkow Bar Leading Marks, have been erected about mile to the northward of the town of Lungkow. The front, or low mark, is a pole surmounted by a triangular shape. The rear, or high mark, which is 1,415 feet inshore from the front mark, is a pole surmounted by an inverted triangular shape. These Marks in line lead through the channel across the Bar, which has a least depth of 8 feet at low water of spring tides.
A black Spar Buoy, surmounted by a spherical day-mark, to be known as the Entrance Buoy, has been moored in 14 feet of water at low water of spring tides in the outer approach to the Bar. From the Buoy, Chimatao Lighthouse bears N. 421° W., magnetic, distant 4.07 miles.
