PRISON DEPARTMENT.

No. S. 392.-It is hereby notified, with reference to Government Notification No. 698 of 1900, that separate tenders in duplicate, which should be sealed and clearly marked "Tender for the supply of Prisoners' Provisions, etc.", for the supply of the Articles therein mentioned, from the 1st February, 1915, to the 31st January, 1916, inclusive, will be received at the Colonial Secretary's Office until Noon of Monday, the 28th December, 1914.

No tender will be considered, unless the person tendering produces a receipt to the effect that he has deposited in the Colonial Treasury the sum of $400 as a pledge of the bonâ fides of his offer, which sum shall be forfeited to the Crown, if such person refuses to carry out his tender.

For form of tender apply at the Colonial Secretary's Office.

For any other information apply at the Office of the Assistant Superintendent, Prison Department.

The successful tenderer will be required to sign an agreement and to give security to the satisfaction of the Govenment in the sum of $2,000.

PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT.

No. S. 393. It is hereby notified that sealed tenders in duplicate, which should be clearly marked "Tender for Stores ", will be received at the Colonial Secretary's Office until Noon of Monday, the 21st December, 1914, for the supply of Stores required by Government Departments during the year 1915.

Tenderers must produce a receipt that they have deposited in the Colonial Treasury the sum of $250 as a pledge of the bona fides of their tender, which sum shall be forfeited to the Crown, if any tenderer fails or refuses to carry out his tender, should the tender be accepted.

For form of tender, specification and further particulars apply at this Office.

The Government does not bind itself to accept the lowest or any tender.

THE Master of the British S.S. Wai Shing reports that on the 28th November he saw heavy breakers in Hainan Straits; well to Southward of North Bank, in Latitude 20° 18′ N., Longitude 110° 55′ E.
