NOTICES TO MARINERS.

No. 161/1941.

PHILIPPINE ISLANDS.

ENTRANCE TO MANILA AND SUBIG BAYS.

Dangerous areas on account of Mine Fields.

Date. From daylight July 17th 1941.

Details.-Entrance to and departure from Manila Bay is permitted only during daylight hours. All vessels, including small craft, desiring to enter Manila Bay will proceed to a point distant 4.5 miles 218 degrees from La Monja Island Light and remain at all times to seaward of a line joining Luzon Point and Hamilo Point. Upon arrival at this point vessels will hoist their International Signal Letters and await inst ruc tions from a Naval Control Vessel.

Weather permitting, Pilot and Inspection Officers will board

incoming ships from the Control Vessel.

If weather conditions prevent a Pilot from boarding, the Control Vessel will lead incoming ships through the Mine Fields. Outward bound vessels will receive instructions from the Captain

of the Port of Manila.

Vessels will have available one black ball, two red and two white

lights fitted for hoisting.

HONG KONG WATERS-DEEP BAY.

Existence of Shoal.

Position. Lat. 22° 26′ 15′′ N., long. 113° 55′ 06′′ E. (Approx.).

Details.—A shoal has been reported in the above position having a depth of 1.5

fathoms of water at M.L.W.S.

Chart Affected.-No. 3681.

Authority.-Police Patrol Craft.
