EXAMINATION SERVICE ESTABLISHED.

Amendment to Ports.

Former Notice.-No. 34/1941 of the 6th February, 1941 hereby amended.

"Ports"-SABANG, PANGKALAN SOE, SOE and PANGKALAN BRANDON, BELAWAN, TANGJONG BALAI, SAMBOE, BANDONG, OEBAN, TANDJONG PINANG, D'JAMBI, OOSTHAVEN, EMMAHAVEN, SEMARANG LAIANGET, PONTANAK, BANDJERMASIN SAMARINDA, MAKASSAR, and MENADO.

HONG KONG WATERS-BLACKOUT EXERCISES.

Blackout exercises will take place on the nights of 26th/27th, 27th/28th February, 1941, and 28th February/1st March, 1941.

1. In these exercises, the blackout will automatically commence at sunset (1826 Hours) on the 26th February, 1941, and remain in force until sunrise (0648 Hours) on the morning of the 1st March, 1941, when normal lighting and sea traffic will be resumed.

2.-(1) External lights of every description on board vessels are prohibited, and all internal lights must either be extinguished or obscured so that no light is visible either from above or from any other direction.

Note:-Torches may be used to meet any special circumstance, but they must be screened with two thicknesses of ordinary blue close-woven cloth or paint.

(2) The following lights in the Hong Kong area will be extinguished during

the period of the blackout:- མ

Waglan Island, Tathong Point, Cape Collinson, South Lyemun, North Lyemun, Channel Rocks, Cust Rock, North Fairway Buoy, Central Fairway Buoy, South Fairway Buoy, Green Island, Cheung Chau Island Passage, and the lights at the Entrances to the Yaumati Bay Typhoon Shelter.

Normal lighting will be resumed on the night of the 1st/2nd

March, 1941.

3. The Port will be closed to all inward and outward shipping at sunset on the 26th February to sunrise on the 27th February from sunset on the 27th February to sunrise on the 28th February and from sunset on the 28th February to sunrise on the 1st March, during which periods no movements of vessels, etc., will be permitted inside the Port.
