THE NETHERLANDS EAST INDIES.
Examination Service Established.
Ports.-The Netherlands East Indies have established an examination service at the
following ports :-
SABANG, PANGKALANSOESOE, PANGKALAN, BRANDAN, BELAWAN, TAND- JONGBALAI, SAMBOE, BANDONG, OEBAN, TANDJONGPINANG, D'JAMBI, OOSTHAVEN, EMMAHAVEN, SEMARANG, LAIANGET, PONTANAK, BANDJERMASIN, SAMARINDA, MAKASSAR and MENADO.
Details.-The examination service is exercised from sunrise to sunset and Masters are advised to regulate the speed of their vessels so as to arrive at ports at daybreak. At ports where there are European pilots, the examination will be carried out by the pilot. At ports where there are no pilots, the examination will be done by the Harbour Master while the vessel is approaching, or at anchor in the roads.
Remarks. The following examination signals will be displayed from positions in
the harbour, signal stations, or pilot light vessels.
By Day :-Three Balls hoisted vertically.
By Night-Three Red Lights hoisted vertically.
Note:-Instructions given by the examination officer must be strictly adhered to,
and ships failing to comply may be fired on.

CEYLON-WEST COAST-COLOMBO HARBOUR.
Oil Bunkering Jetties-Works in Progress.
Position.-On the Inner side of the North East Break water. Lat. 6° 57.'6' North,
long. 79° 51. 2' East (Approx.).
Details.-Dolphins are being constructed between the Inner and Outer Oil
Bunkering Jetties, and will be marked during the day by red flags. Remarks.-Passage between these Oil Bunkering Jetties is strictly prohibited. Chart Affected. -No. 914.
