1. The Council met pursuant to adjournment. His Excellency the Officer Admin-

istering the Government occupied the Chair.

MINUTES.

2. The Minutes of the Meeting held on the 19th December, 1940, were confirmed.

ANNOUNCEMENTS.

3. His Excellency the Officer Administering the Government addressed the Council

and moved the following resolution:-

That the Legislative Council of this Colony, on the occasion of the hundredth anniversary of the Colony's foundation, humbly renews the expression of its loyalty to the throne, and its devotion to the Empire's cause.

The Honourable Mr. Joux JOHNSTONE PATERSON seconded.

The Honourable Mr. Lo MAN-KAM supported the resolution on behalf of his

Chinese colleagues and himself.

The resolution was unanimously adopted.

4. Standing Law Committee. The Honourable the Colonial Secretary by direction of His Excellency the fficer Administering the Government announced the appointment of the following to be Members of the Standing Law Committee for 1941-The Honourable Attorney General (Chairman), the Honourable Financial Secretary, the Honourable Sir HENRY EDWARD POLLOCK, Kt., K.C., LL.D., the Honourable Mr. Lo MAN-KAM and the Honourable Mr. LEO D'ALMADA E CASTRO, Junior.

PAPERS.

5. The following papers were laid on the table :-

Order made by the Governor in Council under section 5 of the Dangerous Goods Ordinance, 1873, Ordinance No. 1 of 1873, suspending until further notice Regulation 164 (4) of the Dangerous Goods Regulations, 1940, dated 13th December, 1940.

Amendment made by the Governor in Council under section 3 of the Post Office Ordinance, 1926, Ordinance No. 7 of 1926, to the regulations, dated 17th December, 1940.
