ORDINANCE No. 27 of 1932. (FACTORIES AND WORKSHOPS).

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 4 of the Factories and Workshops Ordinance, 1932, the Governor in Council makes the following regulation to be inserted after regulation 12 in the Regulations governing the employment of women, young persons and children in industrial under- takings in section A of the Schedule to the said Ordinance :-

13. No female, whatever her age, shall be employed on underground work in any mine.

NOTE. The above regulation 13 enacts the provisions of Article 2 of the Underground Work (Women) Convention, 1935, adopted by the General Conference of the International Labour Organisation on the 21st June, 1935. Mines are "industrial undertakings" under section 2 (4) (b) of Ordinance No. 27 of 1932. The Secretary of State in his Circular despatch of the 4th July, 1936, has stated that His Majesty's Government in the United Kingdom propose to proceed with the ratification of the Convention. It is considered necessary therefore to enact the above regulation 13 in order that the Convention may be applied to the Colony of Hong Kong in accordance with Article 421 of the Treaty of Versailles.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 32 of the Telecommunication Ordinance, 1936, and by section 9 of the Interpretation Ordinance, 1911, the Governor in Council makes the following amendments of the Radiocommunication Regulations in the Schedule to the said Ordinance, to come into operation on the day on which the said Ordinance comes into operation:-
