(h) When application is made for the issue or amend- ment of a "Suez Canal or Panama Canal " Special Tonnage Certificate, a fee of two-fifths of the full tonnage fee is to be charged for each certificate whether the measure- ment is made at the same time as the measurement for British registry or not. This fee includes re-measurement of British tonnage (except underdeck) if made at the same time. Certified copies of Suez Canal or Panama Canal certificate will be issued on payment of $7.50 for each copy.
(i) If a foreign ship, originally registered as a British ship, is subsequently brought forward for registry, a fee of $30 only is to be charged if, on comparison, the principal dimensions are found to agree with the original tonnage measurements. If, however, they do not agree and the ship has to be measured throughout, the full fee is to be charged. If the underdeck tonnage is found to agree and other items differ, then, in addition to the $30 fee for check measure- ment, further fees are to be charged for these items in accordance with the foregoing.
() If a ship is being transferred from British to foreign registry, details of the British tonnage calculation may be supplied for the guidance of the foreign Customs Authorities on payment of a fee of $7.50 per sheet subject to a minimum of $30.
(k) The fee paid in accordance with Scale A covers any number of visits that the Surveyor may find it necessary to make before he is able to complete the measurement for tonnage and grant his certificate to enable a ship to be registered. It also covers the inspection of crew spaces and lights and sound signals, if the Surveyor is able to make these inspections at the same time as the measurement for tonnage but not otherwise. For any further visits necessary for the completion of inspection of crew spaces and lights and sound signals, additional fees are to be charged in accord- ance with Regulations 9 and 11 respectively.
(1) The fee for the inspection of minor alterations (e.g., of rig, engines, etc.) is $15.
