1. The Council met pursuant to adjournment. His Excellency the Governor

occupied the Chair.

MINUTES.

2. The Minutes of the Meeting held on the 13th May, 1936, were confirmed.

OATH.

3. The Honourable Mr. ANTONIO FERREIRA BATALHA SILVA-NETTO took the Oath of

Allegiance and assumed his seat as a Member of the Council.

ANNOUNCEMENT.

4. His Excellency the Governor appointed the Honourable Mr. Lo MAN-KAM to be a Member of the Standing Law Committee in place of Sir WILLIAM EDWARD LEONARD SHENTON, Kt., resigned.

5. The following papers were laid on the table :-

Regulations made by the Governor in Council under section 10 (6) and section 13 (1) of the Merchant Shipping Ordinance, 1899, Ordinance No. 10 of 1899, (Life-Saving Appliances) Regulations, 1935, dated 20th April, 1936. Regulations made by the Governor in Council under section 10 (6) and section 13 (1) and section 37 (2) of the Merchant Shipping Ordinance, 1899, Ordinance No. 10 of 1899, (Fire Appliances) Regulations, 1935, dated 23rd April, 1936.

Amendments made by the Governor in Council under section 3 of the Post Office Ordinance, 1926, Ordinance No. 7 of 1926, Increase of postal rates, dated 22nd April, 1936.

Amendments made by the Governor in Council under sections 3 and 5 of the Tobacco Ordinance, 1931, Ordinance No. 39 of 1931, to the regulations under the heading "Drawbacks", dated 9th May, 1936.
