The number of sets of davits and the boat capacities of ships not provided for in the Table shall be prescribed by the Government Marine Surveyor.

5. LIFEBOATS, LIFE Rafts AND BUOYANT APPARATUS : Each set of davits shall have a boat of Class 1 attached to it.

If the lifeboats attached to davits do not provide sufficient accommodation for all persons on board, or the minimum cubic capacity specified in Column (D) of Table No. 1 whichever is less, additional lifeboats of Class 1 or Class 2 shall be provided to make up the deficiency.

If the boats so provided do not provide accommodation for all persons on board, additional lifeboats of Class 1 or Class 2 or approved life rafts or other approved buoyant apparatus shall be provided so that the accommodation pro- vided by the lifeboats, life rafts and buoyant apparatus shall be sufficient for all persons on board.

The stowage of the additional boats shall be decided by the Government Marine Surveyor.

6. MOTOR LIFEBOATS :-Where the number of lifeboats carried on a ship is more than 13, one shall be a motor boat, and where the number is more than 19, two shall be motor boats. These motor lifeboats shall be fitted with a wireless telegraph installation and a searchlight.

7. EQUIPMENT FOR LIFEBOATS:-Every lifeboat forming part of the statutory life saving appliances of any ship of Group I. Class 3 shall be provided with the full equip- ment for lifeboats specified in the Instructions except that, subject to the approval of the Government Marine Surveyor, the quantity of condensed milk may be reduced to one-half.

8. EQUIPMENT FOR LIFE RAFTS --Every life raft form- ing part of the statutory life saving appliances of any ship of Group I. Class 3 shall be provided with the full equip- ment for life rafts specified in the Instructions.

9. LIFE-BUOYS :-The minimum number of approved life-buoys with which ships of Group I. Class 3 are to be provided is as follows:-

10. LIFE-JACKETS:-One approved life-jacket shall be carried for each person on board.
