8. Opium Amendment Bill.-The Attorney General moved the Second reading of

the Bill intituled "An Ordinance to amend the law relating to Opium."

The Colonial Secretary seconded.

Question-put and agreed to.

Council in Committee on the Bill.

In clause 2, the words or any part thereof' in lines two and three of 15 (1) (d) were deleted. In 15 (2) (c) the words or any part thereof' were inserted after the word 'place' in the third line. The words 'the nearest' in the sixth line were deleted and the word 'any' was substituted therefore. The words after the word 'tenancy' in the seventh line to the end of the subsec- tion were deleted.

On Council resuming, the Attorney General reported that the Bill had passed through Committee without material amendments and moved that it be read a third time.

9. Immigration and Passports Bill.-The Attorney General moved the Second reading of the Bill intituled "An Ordinance to regulate the entry and depar- ture of persons into and out of the Colony, to prohibit the entry of undesir- able immigrants and to confer various powers in connection therewith." The Colonial Secretary seconded.
