Promotions.

Qualifica- tions for promotion.

Honorary Commissions are restricted to gentlemen who in the opinion of the Governor have rendered such exceptional service in promoting the interests of the Force as to merit recognition by the award of an honorary commission.

PROMOTIONS.

11. Commissioned and warrant Officers and Cadets of all branches below the rank of Captain will, if qualified by the following regulations, be eligible for promotion to the higher ranks at the discretion of the Governor.

The date of seniority of Officers promoted will be the date on which their promotion was approved by the Governor unless directions are given to the contrary.

The Governor may promote commissioned and warrant Officers and Cadets of all branches to a higher rank if con- sidered deserving of the advancement on account of specially good service, although they may not have all the necessary qualifications as defined below.

Commissioned and warrant Officers and Cadets who shall have displayed zeal in promoting the efficiency of the Force will be favourably considered for advancement.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR PROMOTION,

12. Subject to vacancies existing in the establishment Officers and Cadets of all branches may be promoted, provided they have:-

(a) Passed a qualifying examination for the rank to which they are eligible.

(b) Regularly attended Drills and Lectures and at all times qualified as efficient.

(c) Been recommended by the C. O.

NOTE:The standard of examination at (a) will be laid down

by the Commodore.

Every Officer after reaching the rank of Sub-Lt. will be required to qualify in the following subjects:-

Gunnery

Pilotage

Navigation

Signals

Engineer Cadets.

Paymaster Cadets.

and specialize in one or more of such subjects.

The syllabus in each subject will be laid down by the Commodore and may be varied from to time.

ENGINEER CADETS.

13. Every applicant for entry as an Engineer Cadet must possess such qualifications as may be approved by the Com-

modore.

PAYMASTER CADETS,

14. Every applicant for entry as a Paymaster Cadet. must be a Chartered or Incorporated Accountant.
