SPECIAL NOTICE TO MARINERS, No. 337.
CHINA SEA.
SHANGHAI DISTRICT.
Confucius Channel.
ENTENSION OF SOUTH-EAST SPIT; ALTERATION IN BUOYAGE. NOTICE is hereby given that on or about the 1st June the South-east Spit Gas-lighted Buoy will be shifted 2.65 miles S. 19° E. from its present position, and will be a black Buoy marking the 5-fathom contour off the right bank of the river.
A red 6-foot Buoy, having a black triangular cage, to be known as the Dove's Nest Lower Buoy, will be placed in the present position of the South-cast Spit Buoy.
The South-east Spit, between its 5-fathom contour, has extended about 3 miles to the south-eastward of its position as shown on the latest charts, this extension having from 4 to 5 fathoms on it at low water of spring tides.
When the above changes have been made, deep-draught vessels should pass to the north-eastward of the South-east Spit Buoy, at a distance not exceeding 34 cables.
