While the party system remains in its present ill-defined and developing stage, arrangements for Legislative Council elections in 1995 will have strong bearing on the development

of stable and representative government in Hong Kong. The Business and Professionals Federation has put forward to the

Administration its strongly held views regarding the 1995 direct election and will be crystallizing its views on other aspects of the 1995 elections in the next few months.

Summary

The BPF believes that the Basic Law provides for a stable

and prosperous future for Hong Kong and does not support

attempts to change the Basic Law.
