as 25 February 1981 (our Creda 64) I sent details of local production capacity and I have no doubt that if requested to do so and armed with a proper brief I could obtain an up date of this information from the Director of Industry on a confidential basis. The Hong Kong Government have been very co-operative on this issue but we cannot operate a proper dialogue with them unless the DOI take care to keep us up to date with their thinking. For example, we still lack any reply to our Indus 7 of 7 January 1982 and a specific question posed in our Indus 150 of 3 November 1981. There is also a lack of any comment on the enclosures to Choy's letter of 24 February to Atkinson which warned the DOI of the activities of Binatone in the UK.
