domestic users and commercial users increased by 6% and 17%

respectively. Reflecting a slowing down in activities in the

industrial sector, the amount of electricity consumed by

industrial users increased slightly, by 1%. Electricity exported to China amounted to 75 million kilowatt hours in the

third quarter, equivalent to 2%/ of total electricity

consumption in Hong Kong. Gas consumption was 22% higher in

the third quarter of 1982 than in the third quarter of 1981.

Domestic consumption and commercial consumption rose by 23%

and 24% respectively.
