The slight declines in employment in manufacturing (paragraph 4.8), in domestic exports in real

materials, semi-manufactures and capital goods (paragraph 2.11) indicate that the manufacturing sector has not grown in the first half of the year. At the same time, the quantity of electricity consumed by the manufacturing sector showed little change
compared with the first half of 1981.
5.2
Activity in the textiles industry (excluding clothing) continued to contract. Although the indexes of industrial production for the spinning and weaving industries for the second quarter of 1982 are not yet available, those for the first quarter indicate that production was 13% lower than that in the first quarter of 1981, and the industry's consumption of electricity for the first half of the year was about 11% less than in the first half of 1981. As far as the output directly exported of textiles in the first half of this year real terms than in the first half of 1981.
