(d) Paper records will be transferred at the time as the functions but microfilm records will only be transferred in April 1997 due to the complexity in the segregation of the latter records; and

(e) Applications for registration as BCs under the British Nationality (Hong Kong) Act 1990 will not be accepted after 31 December 1996 and follow-up action on the outstanding applications in relation to this Scheme will be transferred to the HKBCG in January 1997. (The number of such outstanding cases should be very small (mainly sensitive and dependent cases which will also be accepted between March 1994 and December 1996).) The records in respect of the finalized cases will be transferred to UK (Home Office?) at the same time.

As for the assumption in

in para 5(c), it is possible that a last-minute rush to submit applications for BN(0) passports under the escape clause may occur and thus affect the transfer date. Therefore, both the HKG and the UKG will have to monitor the situation closely nearer 1997 to ensure that adequate arrangements (including the provision of staff and accommodation) are made to cater for

for the exigencies SO that applications accepted under the BN (0) phased programme can be finalized before 1 July 1997.
