Rear George,
FUTURE CONSULATE GENERAL IN HONG KONG: BRITISH CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
1.
35
Please refer to my letter to Jean Gray of 20 April.
HKD 406/2.
2. The British Chamber of Commerce duly passed on to Mr Needham a paper saying that they would require a minimum of 200 square metres in the future Consulate General. I have sent the letter to you and other copy addressees under separate cover. As I explained in my earlier letter, this approach from the Chamber encourages us to take a further look at the whole question of the presence in the future Consulate General of the Chamber of Commerce. We are hoping to call a meeting of Mr Hum's Steering Committee for 21 May to look at various matters which have come up lately. It would be helpful if I could have any DTI comments on the subject of the British Chamber of Commerce (please see my letter of 20 April) by 18 May to allow me to circulate them in advance of the meeting.
Yours
