REVISION OF IMMIGRATION ORDINANCES
1.
Thank you for your letter of 6 September I am sorry not to have responded to it before now. The question of amendments to the Immigration Ordinance which affect British citizens in Hong Kong is one which we obviously need to be briefed on at this end. I would be grateful if Security Branch could keep in touch with us on this matter and keep us briefed as thinking develops and timetables are discussed. am sure that you will appreciate that I would rather hear about it from you than read about it in the press!

What do you see as the next steps? I would be grateful if you would factor in sufficient time to consult us as part of your decision making process.
