1. Your letter of 3 November to MVD enclosing an article from the Gambian Daily Observer about the granting of Gambian citizenship to special immigrants from Hong Kong was copied to this department.

We were very interested to learn that the Gambians have a scheme by which people from Hong Kong are able to obtain Gambian citizenship. We have heard of similar schemes operating in other parts of the world and have been keeping a record of them. We should be interested, therefore, to know more about the Gambian scheme. Could you let me have further details?
