HONG KONG: FOREIGN RIGHT OF ABODE SCHEMES

Please refer to FCO telno 337 commissioning information from a number of posts on Right of Abode Schemes for Hong Kong residents in host countries. Miss Bliss is now chasing up outstanding returns. She has made a start tabulating the information which we have received. I would be grateful if you would, as we discussed when we last saw each other, do any further work necessary to make this a briefing document on which we could draw as the need arises (for instance in briefing the Foreign Affairs Committee prior to their October trip).

2. Mr Thomson (DHM Lima) telephoned me today to ask whether his teleletter of 16 April, which crossed with our

commissioning telegram, would fit the bill or whether we needed further information. It looks to me as though his teleletter gives us enough for a sentence on Peru but should you consider we need more, he could go and ask some more questions.
