A Hong Kong press survey at the end of December included a report that the Yuan had endorsed a proposal to grant permanent residency to 4 categories of Hong Kong

professionals. These were said to include teachers/school principals, professionals such as lawyers/accountants/doctors and people who excelled in scientific and cultural fields and in the media. We would be interested in any further details you may be able to unearth on this scheme. (We have a watching brief on such schemes).
