Overnight flight to UK
Saturday 9 April
Early morning arrival in UK.
I should be grateful if our Posts in Bangkok and Hanoi can now work up programme suggestions on these lines. They may if they wish now consult host governments.
I should be grateful if Hong Kong Department could ask the Governor whether a visit on this timing would suit him.
Please could Ministerial Visits Section offer revised advice on travel options (Pauline Waugh's minute of 29 October refers). Please could you also explore the possibility of using a helicopter for the transits between Bangkok airport and the centre of Bangkok (to avoid Bangkok's notorious traffic jams).
