Thank you for your submission of 29 October. We have now had an opportunity to discuss with the Secretary of State his travel plans for next year.

The Secretary of State wishes to go ahead with the proposed visit to Thailand and Vietnam. He has concluded that a visit to Hong Kong is likely to take priority over a visit to Japan. An outline programme might thus read:
