1. Many thanks for your letter of 14 July about Cavaco Silva's plan to visit Hong Kong as part of his Far East tour next April.

2. I was in touch with Edward Llewellyn in Hong Kong about this before further expeditions to Peking, interspersed with some leave. I understand that Edward Llewellyn has now replied to you direct confirming that the Governor was happy that you should brief the Prime Minister as you propose in your final paragraph. We here are perfectly content as well.
