CZECH FOREIGN MINISTER'S VISIT TO HONG KONG

Thank you for your letter of 11 June. I now attach a list of the Czech businessmen and journalists who will be visiting with the Minister.

Also accompanying the Minister (but not part of the official party) will be Mrs Pavla Zieleniecova wife of the Foreign Minister (CV attached), Deputy-Director of the UN Department of the MFA (no name yet available) and three bodyguards, Mr Stefan Klucka, date of birth 12.10.62 carrying rifle type CZ75 No A3086, 9mm, 30 cartridges. Mr Stanislav Vevera, date of birth 15.9.61 carrying rifle type CZ75 No 166447, 9mm, 30 cartridges. Mr Miroslav Kunef, date of birth 16.8.58 carrying rifle type CZ75 No 167593, 9mm, 30 cartridges.

I gather from Mr Vymetal, that no previous mention has been made of the bodyguards or their weapons. I have told him that it is my understanding that these weapons will need to be checked in on arrival in Hong Kong and will be given back on departure. Please can you confirm that this was the right line and let me know if there are any further points that I should make to the Czech Embassy on this subject.
