We are as keen as you are to get this matter settled satisfactorily. Matters have moved forward recently but I cannot say when the next round of consultations will take place.
I am aware that you write to the Civil Service Branch on 28 April asking about the present position on HMOCS. I would now like to hand you a response to that letter.

(Security Vetting Problems)
We are investigating the issue of security vetting for HMOCS officers who wish to join the Police Force, armed forces or Diplomatic Service after 1997. The guidelines are currently under review in the UK.
Hope to be able to clarify the position soon.
