Line-to-take

There is a proposal to merge

Mong Kok and Yau Tsim

districts. Most DB Chairmen

prefer the retention of 19 districts. They would like to

find out what is the

Government's

on the subject.

latest thinking

Government appreciates the community building work done by the DBS in the past and as far as possible will respect the existing

district boundaries. However,

after careful consideration of all

the views put forward by the DBS and the public, Government still

thinks that there is a strong case

to merge Yau Tsim and Mong Kok.

The two Districts share many common

characteristics, have relatively

small and declining population, and

cover a small geographical area.
