BILATERAL RELATIONS
General
1.
Mr Smith made the following points:
(a) Except for Maralinga, pensions and regional arms sales,
Australia was pleased with the relationship.

Mr Keating looked forward to his visit to Britain.
Secretary of State's proposed visit was warmly welcomed.
TIC was an important development.
Continued dialogue, especially on European and Asia-Pacific issues, was important.
Debate about a republic should not affect bilateral relations.
