10. Hong Kong: feed in suggested points for Mr Keating to make to Chinese leadership during June visit. Canberra have asked for instructions by 10 June at the latest to allow adequate time for Australian officials to consider our suggested points before Mr Keating leaves Australia on 21 June.
11. Indian subcontinent proliferation issues: ensure adequate time for substantive discussion during 4 June bilateral arms control discussions with Australians.
12. Representation in Belgrade: co-ordinate closely over when to scale down, withdraw etc.
13. Gulf: at the table the UK side surmised to the Australians that the reason Britain was not involved in the MIF was that we maintained involvement in the Armilla Patrol. We need to confirm/correct this. Grateful if MED could provide a line for Mr Guest to pass on to the Australian High Commission.
14. Middle East peace process working groups: DFAT'S (Michael Landale) main interest was for as detailed a read-out as possible on the progress the working groups, particularly the economic group, were making but they also wondered if some sort of price tag was attached to participation. Grateful if NENAD could speak to the Australian High Commission.
15.
G7 discussions: DFAT (Jane Drake- Brockman) were particularly keen to get a detailed read-out of the developmental issues, rather than the hard politics, of G7 discussions. Grateful if ERD could brief the Australian High Commission in the lead-up to the Tokyo Summit.
