1. The Japanese Foreign Minister is visiting Peking from 7-9 January. The Japanese have been prepared to raise Hong Kong with Chinese interlocutors in the past (most recently Hosakawa/Jiang Zemin in Seattle) and the Embassy here have volunteered that they would be happy to have any points we wished Mr Hata to make on this visit to Peking.
