PRIVATE VISIT TO LONDON BY LEE KUAN YEW, 28-31 MAY

Problem

1. To decide what level of Ministerial attention we might

give to Lee Kuan Yew, Senior Minister of Singapore, during his

private visit to London over the Whitsun weekend.

Recommendation

2. That the Secretary of State and Prime Minister consider whether, given the timing of the visit over a holiday weekend, they wish to see or offer any hospitality to Lee. I submit a

draft Private Secretary letter to PS/No 10. HKD (who have consulted the Governor of Hong Kong) agree.
