Thank you for your fax letter of 23 August under the heading "Adaptation of Laws Further explanation to the Chinese of our New Approach". As discussed, we will hand over to the Chinese side our answers to their questions on the Post Office Ordinance with the explanation of our new approach at the first available opportunity (likely to be the next JLG Offices' weekly meeting on 1 September 1993).

We have prepared four more Adaptation papers under new approach which we are now attaching for your comments before handing over to the Chinese side.

You will note that all adaptations will be of the "midnight" kind. The Bill(s) would come into force on enactment but the amendments would take effect on 1 July 1997.
