Representatives of the relevant Chinese and Hong Kong authorities met in Canton on 23 and 24 August 1993 to discuss means of resolving the problem of illegal arrivals in Hong Kong of Vietnamese refugees previously settled in the mainland of China. The meeting took place in an atmosphere of friendly cooperation, and achieved the required results.
