Item 2. Location of regular and alternate aerodromes

The meeting is expected to consider amendments to the AOP plan concerning the choice of suitable regular and alternate aerodromes, in respect of existing aerodromes and aerodromes not already in the plan, and outstanding amendment proposals that have been circulated to States prior to the meeting but in respect of which objections have been raised but have not been resolved.

7.2

The meeting will develop a list of regular aerodromes and alternate aerodromes required on the basis of present and planned international aircraft operations. The resulting list of aerodromes will contain regular aerodromes required for: 1) international scheduled air transport, 2) international non- scheduled air transport, and 3) international general aviation operations; as well as alternate aerodromes which are not listed as regular aerodromes. A preliminary list will be prepared by the Secretariat for review and amendment by the meeting as necessary. The list developed by the AOP Committee will be communicated to other committees and will identify those aerodromes to be planned for by the meeting.

Item 3. Aerodrome planning

The meeting is expected to review the need for any amendments to the AOP table for those aerodromes in the list and already in the plan. In particular, the requirements for physical characteristics, visual and non-visual aids will have to be amended to take into account the changes in critical aircraft and route stage length which have taken place since the ASIA/PAC/2 RAN meeting in 1983 and/or are expected to take place in the area. These requirements will have to be determined for each runway direction, in accordance with current practice.
