monitoring results. If the foodstuffs are confirmed to be up to the mutually agreed control standards, the arbitration organisation will determine a reasonable and proper compensation to be paid by the Hong Kong side.

Radiation Control Standards for Foodstuffs in the event of an off-site emergency
Both sides agree to use the recommended values and relevant principles in the 'Contaminants - Guidelines Levels for Radionuclides in Food following Accidental Nuclear Contamination for use in International Trade' (First Edition) Supplement I, Volume XVII of the Codex Alimentarius issued by the Codex Alimentarius Commission under the FAO/WHO, as the radiation control standards for food trade between the two sides in the event of an off- site emergency.

Both sides agreed to continue to discuss the radiation control standards to be applied to live food animals. Animals found to have exceeded the agreed control standards would not be exported to Hong Kong. If any are found by Hong Kong to have exceeded the
agreed control standards they would be dealt with in the same way as described in paragraph 2.4 above.
