Investment Protection Agreement
Further to my letter of 4 October 1993 I take pleasure in sending you the initialled text including the changes suggested in my letter.
There is also enclosed a Swedish translation. In the second paragraph of its preamble "greater investment" has been translated by "fler investeringar", which according to the translators of the Foreign Ministry in Stockholm is the expression used in the revised Chinese text.
Finally I enclose one page of the Chinese text containing the suggested amendment mentioned in my above mentioned letter.
The Swedish Minister of European Affairs and Foreign Trade Mr Ulf Dinkelspiel will briefly visit Hongkong later this month arriving on Saturday October 30 at 4.35 p.m. and leaving the following day at 3.15 pm.. In case the agreement is by then ready to be signed, we are wondering on the Swedish side if it is at all possible to arrange for the signing ceremony right after Mr Dinkelspiel's arrival say at 6 or 7 pm October 30. We are of course aware of the fact that this is not at all an ideal time but would not fail to raise the question.
