COPYRIGHT PROTECTION FOR SUBSCRIPTION TELEVISION

I would be grateful for your advice on one point in the attached letter from Rachel Cartland to enable me to decide in Jill Barrett's absence whether or not to cancel a the meeting, arranged at Ms Cartland's request, for 18 October.

Ms Cartland's letter sets out how Hong Kong intend to provide copyright protection for subscription television under local legislation. Hong Kong considered whether an Order in Council under the Hong Kong Act 1985 would be necessary for the local legislation to be enacted, but have concluded that it is not (the penultimate paragraph of Ms Cartlands letter refers). Please could you let me know if you agree with their conclusion. If you do then there will be no need for Jill Barrett and I to see Ms Cartland.
