WIPO MEETINGS

Thank you for your letter of 29 October 1993 advising me that the Government Secretariat would like Miss A C Waters and Miss Mamie Chan from the Hong Kong Intellectual Property Department to attend the meeting of the Committee of Experts on the Harmanisation of Laws for the protection of marks (6th session) from 29 November to 10 December 1993 as part of the United Kingdom delegation.

I have consulted Alec Sugden in the Intellectual Property Policy Directorate of the Patent Office, and the Hong Kong Department in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office for their views. You will be pleased to know that there is no objection to Miss A C Waters and Miss Mamie Chan attending the WIPO meetings as members of the United Kingdom delegation.

The conditions of the above nominations have been spelt out before, namely, that if the representative wishes to make oral interventions the substance of these must be cleared first with the leader of the delegation.

Regarding your request of information regarding the meeting such as documents, Miss Elsa Scarff of the Patent Office has undertaken to provide you with copies of any documentation that you have not got.
