Regulations 7 and 8 aim to safeguard against dust containing manganese dioxide and to provide for adequate general and local ventilation. Regulation 14 requires that suitable personal protective clothing should be provided for workers employed in the mixing and dolly pressing
rooms.
In
addition, regulations . 62 and 63 of the Mines (Safety) Regulations stipulate that in places, excavations or workings where an operation in connection with mining is carried on, all undergroună workplaces should be properly and sufficiently ventilated and that in every mine the quantity of air in circulation should be measured at least once a month.
The
Radiation (Control of Radioactive Substances) Regulations made under the Radiation Ordinance, Chapter 303, govern the licensing, conveyance and storage of radioactive substances and prescribe controls of exposure to
such substances. In particular, regulation 20 prescribes the provision of exhaust ventilation for work which involves the use of unsealed radioactive substances.
