HONG KONG: MEETING BETWEEN THE SECRETARY OF STATE AND THE CHINESE FOREIGN MINISTER IN THE MARGINS OF THE SECURITY COUNCIL MEETING
1. Further to the Private Secretary's minute of 17 May (attached), I now submit a revised draft telegram to Sir R McLaren asking him to tell the Chinese authorities that the Secretary of State is willing to have a talk with Qian in the margins of the meeting on 21 May if this takes place.
