Shenzhen River

The Chinese authorities are very interested in improving the river for navigational, flood prevention and associated development purposes.

Present status/progress

Working Group between HK and Shenzhen Authorities held its second meeting on 1.7.93. Agreement was reached on the arrangements for the land survey works and the EIA study, and the methodology of the cost-benefit

anaylsis. The Chinese side

continues to press for early

commencement of Stage I works

in

advance of the completion of the EIA study.

The 15-month ETA study and the

land survey works will start

before end 1993. The third

Working Group meeting will be held in early 1994.
