HOLY SEE: 1993/4 OBJECTIVES

1. I attach a copy of our Embassy to the Holy See's draft Long Term objectives and those for 1993/4. At least one is of relevance to your Department. I should be grateful if you would consider carefully

- the objectives themselves (are those which relate to your area worth doing?) and

the priority suggested by post (how badly do we need to do it?)

I should be grateful for any comments or suggested amendments

(manuscript on the attached lists is fine) by close of play on 29 March. Nil returns may be telephoned direct to Mr Als on 270 2411.

Because WED are not the main target for most of the output from our Embassy to the Holy See, we (and the post) are dependent on other Departments for feedback on whether what the Embassy produces is not only what you want, but comes in the form in which you want it.

Any comments you would like to add on this (is what you see too long/ too short/ not detailed enough/irrelevant/ timely/just right?) would therefore be much appreciated.
