The talks are conducted on the basis of the JD, the principle of convergence with the BL, and the various Sino-British

understandings and agreements. China and Britain have reached a series of important agreements on the HK question. As there are only some 49 months before HK will revert to Chinese rule, there is now only the question of implementing these agreements. There is no question of the so-called "political reforms". As long as both sides are sincere and strictly abide by the agreements on the basis of the "three conformities", the problems should be resolved.

The talks on the 1994/95 electoral arrangments must be conducted in accordance with the JD, the principle of convergence with the BL and the agreements and understandings reached between China and Britain. This has been stated in the press

announcement.
