You ask in your letter of 28 December exactly how paragraph 43 should now read. What we have done, rather than insert a completely new paragraph 44, as originally suggested by Peter Lai, is to add Martin Dinham's wording (as spelt out in your letter) to the end of the existing paragraph 43. I am faxing the relevant pages so that you can see more clearly what I mean.

2. For good measure I am also faxing copies of 4 other pages on which relatively substantial amendments have been agreed between us since the full text was last sent to you. (heaven forbid) we have to put in further amendments at a later stage, we will fax those pages to you as well. The Secretary of State's introduction will, of course, need some changes before we go to press.
