UP ENGSOT AT 16.59 ROBERT E. RILEY, MANAGING DIRECTOR, MANDARIN ORIENTAL GROUP

"Hong Kong has always been blessed by the Hong Kong folks having the optimism at times when perhaps overseas people did not have the optimism. And that optimism has partly been a factor in fueling the growth. I think it's amazing the amount of optimism that the property developers and manufacturers here have; and are willing to continue to invest.

UP ENSGOT AT 17.24 DAVID K.P.LI, DIRECTOR AND CHIEF EXECUTIVE, BANK OF EAST ASIA LID AND MEMBER OF THETHE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL

"I think investing is about dreaming and about making money. I mean, a lot of people, you have to take some risk in whatever you do; whether you invest in the United States or Canada or America or even in Britain. I mean you are taking a chance. And I think for those people who have not invested in Hong Kong, they have missed the boat in the last ten years. And whether they can afford to miss the boat, continue to miss the boat, I don't know."

UP ENGSOT AT 17.52 MARTIN C.M.LEE O.C., MEMBER OF THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL

"I'm optimistic because I don't believe that China will kill the goose which lays golden eggs; there's no doubt at all in my mind. Because when they kill this Hong Kong goose they are really also killing the Guangdong goose. So, I don't believe it will happen. And no matter how unsettling it may be for some time and I believe it will be a relatively short time I believe the future is good."

ENDS AT 17.48
