FUTURE OF SCHOLARSHIP SCHEMES FOR HONG KONG

1.

The Minister was grateful to you and copy addressees for attending his office meeting on 27 May to discuss Ms Moore's submission of 13 May.

2. The Minister remains concerned about the extent to which Scholarships för Hong Kong will be cut back. As discussed at his meeting, he would grateful if the Senior British Trade Commissioner could seek to identify Hong Kong based firms which would be willing to co-sponsor new scholarships by matching funds made available by HMG. This should not, of course, be at the expense of existing scholarship schemes which firms may be funding.
