DEVELOPMENT CENTRE: DIALOGUE WITH DEVELOPING COUNTRIES: SUMMARY OF PART OF JEAN BONVIN'S PRESENTATION (IN FRENCH) AT THE 2 APRIL 1992 ADVISORY BOARD
The following describes the range of recent contacts between the OECD Development Centre and developing countries.
1.
Conferences and Seminars
Within the framework of its research activities, the Development Centre, (DC) organises regularly conferences and seminars with its external partners, for example:
a)

the joint conference organised by the DC in collaboration with the Africa Leadership Forum on "The Implications for Africa of the changes in Eastern Europe" held in 1990. This conference brought together 40 African and OECD politicians and decision makers under the chairmanship of General Obasanjo, former Head of State of Nigeria;
the annual conferences organised for the last three years by the DC in collaboration with the Inter- American Development Bank on subjects of current interest concerning Latin America:
in 1990 financial flows to Latin America
in 1991 on the strategic choices for Latin American trade in the 1990s
in 1992 on the theme 'Mobilising international investment in favour of Latin America'
Each year the DC has published within a delay of six months a report on these discussions and the Inter-American Development Bank has distributed 1000 copies of this publication at its annual General Assembly.

the conferences organised jointly with the most important research centre in Taiwan, "the Chung Hua Institution for Economic Research"
in 1991 on "Globalisation and Regionalisation"
in 1992 on "The Impact of European Integration and the Responses of Non-EEC countries"
These conference were attended by Taiwanese notables such as the Minister for Economic Affairs and the Chairman of the Economic Planning and Development Council.
