Major existing landfill projects incurring an annual expenditure of approximately HK$420 million to cater for current 7 million tonnes per year demand for municipal waste disposal. New strategic landfill projects, value approx. HK$10 billion, are being implemented to cater for municipal waste disposal in next 10 to 20 years.
$3.1 billion will be spent to expand the water supply system for water from China. Stage I works estimated at $2.2 billion will be completed by end 1994.

The new town programme is the largest of its kind in the world. Since 1973, new homes have been created for over 2.1 million people in 8 new towns. Total public expenditure of a capital nature to date, including public housing expenditure, amounts to over $100 billion.
Tin Shui Wai, which is a new town with currently planned population of 140,000 is being constructed by HKG and a private company.
